Bhatkar, Chairman of ETH Ltd
Dr
Vijay P. Bhatkar is one of the most acclaimed IT leaders
of India. He is best known as an architect of PARAM
series
of Supercomputers, GIST
multilingual technology
and Education-To-Home (ETH) mission. He is widely
recognized for his noteworthy contributions in bringing ICT to the masses through a series of path-breaking
initiatives. He is also credited with the creation of
several national institutions, notably amongst them
being the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing
(C-DAC) - India’s national initiative in Supercomputing;
the Electronics Research & Development Centre (ER&DC),
Trivandrum - India’s largest R&D Centre in application
oriented R&D in electronics; the ETH Research
Laboratory, Pune for launching Education-To-Home
mission; the International Institute of Information
Technology (I2IT), Pune - India’s largest Post-Graduate
Institute for advanced education in IT; and the India
International Multiversity (IIMv) - an educational
initiative for promoting the concept of integral
education.
For his contributions to IT in India, he was conferred
with the Padma Shri award in 2000, one of the highest
civilian recognitions by the Government of India, the
Maharashtra Bhushan Award 1999-2000, the highest
recognition of Government of Maharashtra. He is also a
recipient of several prestigious national awards,
Dr. Bhatkar is a Fellow of the Computer Society of
India, Fellow of the Indian National Academy of
Engineering, New Delhi, Fellow of the Maharashtra
Academy of Science, Pune, Fellow of the Institution of
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, Delhi,
Senior Member of the IEEE, USA, Member of the New York
Academy of Sciences, New York, and also several leading
national and international professional societies and
task forces, holding active positions in many of them.

V. Srinivasan, Director, SVL (Group holding company).

Vaidyanathan Srinivasan
is a Director in Siva Ventures Limited, which is the
holding company of the group.
He previously held senior
positions in several large corporations in India,
including Bharat Earth Movers Limited and Bombay Dyeing
& Manufacturing Co. Ltd., and served as the Chief
Financial Officer of the Essar-Swisscom
telecommunications joint venture before joining Dishnet.
Mr. Srinivasan received a Bachelor of Mech.Engg.(Honours)
from Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirapalli,
India, and is a qualified cost accountant.
Mr. Srinivasan is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (Gold
Medallist).
Prof. Ram Takwale,
Director
Professor Ram Takwale is
an Emeritus Professor in the University of Pune and
Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU),
Nashik. He
is the President of Indian Consortium for Educational
Transformation (I-CONSENT), Chairperson, Indian
Institute of Education, Pune, Director, MKCL, Member ,
Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission of
Maharashtra, and Secretary of the Network for
Educational Transformation (NETRA) .
Born in 1933, Prof Takwale had his schooling in a
village and Pune, higher education in Pune University
and Ph D from Moscow State University. He has taught
Physics at Fergusson College and Pune University. His
teaching and research interests shifted from theoretical
physics to studies & development in education during the
later part of his career since he became
Vice-Chancellor. Professor Takwale was Vice-chancellor
of three Universities: Pune University, Pune (1978-84),
Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik
(1989-95) and Indira Gandhi National Open University,
New Delhi (1995-98). He was also the Chairman of
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC),
Banglore (2003-06). Chairperson of the Sub-Committee on
Education in MCCIA. Pune.(2002-08)
Prof. Takwale’s contribution includes the
development of a model of YCMOU responsive to the needs
of the region, models for work-place based learning, use
of ICT in administration and education, ICT based
teacher training model.
